DOUBLE GINGERBREAD HOUSE KIT (MAKES 2 HOUSES)
INGREDIENTS
INCLUDED:
- Gingerbread mix
- White chocolate icing
- Red, green, and purple sanding sugar packets
- Rainbow sprinkles
- Crushed peppermint
- 2 house-shaped cookie cutters
- 2 piping bags
YOU WILL NEED:
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 8 tbsp vegan butter (room temperature)
- 4 tbsp water
INSTRUCTIONS
GINGERBREAD:
1. Add gingerbread mix, 1/2 cup vegan butter, 1/4 cup molasses and 3 tablespoons of water to your mixing bowl. Mix on low until it comes together (about 4 minutes).
Note: If the mix is still dry and falls apart when you try to make a ball with your hands, add one more tablespoon of water.
2. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees.
3. Place half of the dough between two pieces of parchment paper on the counter.
4. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough until it’s about 1/4 inch thick.
5. Cut out 6 shapes with your cookie cutters – four of the rectangles to make two sides of the house and the two sides of the roof, and two of the house-shaped cookie cutters to make the front and back of the house. You will need to remove the edges and re-roll them to have enough dough to make all six.
6. Repeat the steps above with the second half of your dough to make your second house.
7. Make additional shapes such as a star for the front of each house, squares to make presents leading up to the house, candy canes, or anything you can imagine with the leftover dough.
8. Keep the cut out shapes on the parchment paper and place both on top of baking sheets.
9. Bake for 15 minutes at 325 degrees.
10. Let cool completely before decorating each piece.
DECORATING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Melt one cup of white chocolate in a microwave-safe cup or bowl 20 seconds at a time.
2. Add melted chocolate to first piping bag, twist the top to keep it from dripping out. Trim the edge off at the bottom, less than 1/8 inch from the end so that it makes a small hole to assist chefs piping details on the pieces.
3. Ice the house pieces and create any details like snow, windows, and doors you might like.
4. Add sprinkles, crushed peppermint, and sanding sugars on top of the icing so that they stay in place.
5. Let dry completely for 30 minutes before assembling the house.
6. Once dry, shake off any excess sanding sugar or sprinkles.
7. Melt and add the remaining white chocolate to your second piping bag, and trim the edge of the bag at 1/4 inch. This will be used as the glue to make your house stand up properly.
8. SEE ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS ON YOUR BOX.
